Tian Hou Gong (天后宫) is a temple in Qingdao originally built in 1467. Now a popular tourist attraction on the coast along Taiping Lu near Zhan Qiao, it features shrines to Tian Hou Dian, the Goddess of Heaven who later came to be Goddess of the Sea (aka Ma Zu), and Du Cai Fu, a famous general called the Military God of Wealth.
The temple is at 19 Taiping Lu near the Beach Castle Hotel and the Qingdao People’s Hall.
Tian Hou Gong also has a strong emphasis on folk crafts, with a Folklore Museum dedicated to Tian Hou and a market alley of small shops selling traditional Chinese arts and crafts such as jewelry, silk slippers, and jade and more. Check out more information on Qingdao temples.
