Qingdao continues to connect with surrounding areas via an elevated rail line that cuts through Laoshan. The line is known as Qingdao Metro Line 11 and goes from Miaoling Lu (near the Convention Center) to Aoshan Bay in Jimo. Passengers on the line can take in awesome views of the rocky mountains that make Laoshan so picturesque.
The metro line also passes by (and stops near) the Laoshan campus of Ocean University of China and the site of the 2014 International Horticultural Expo.

QINGDAO opened its first suburban metro line on April 23 (2018) with the start of passenger operation on Line 11.
The 58.4km line runs northeast from an interchange with Line 2 at Miaoling Road and passes through the Laoshan mountains on a largely-elevated alignment to reach Aoshan Bay.
The line has 22 stations, 18 of which are elevated, and has a maximum design speed of 120km/h.
